It is known for its internationally-acclaimed award-winning vodka products and was founded in Austria by Katya Kuzmina in 2012. The brand’s headquarters are in El Segundo, California. NEFT prioritizes sustainable and organic production methods and recyclable packaging as part of its eco-friendly corporate culture.

NEFT was founded by Katya Kuzmina in Austria in 2012.[1]

NEFT debuted in the United States in 2017.[2][3]

In 2018, NEFT won “Best Vodka” at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a “Double Gold” status after earning unanimous gold ratings.[4] In 2019, it repeated this honor by winning “Best Vodka” and a “Double Gold” status again at the same competition.

In 2020, NEFT received a Gold Medal in the Best Imported Vodka category from The Fifty Best.[5] In the same year, it also received a Double Gold award from Best Tasting Spirits[6] and a Gold Medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute.[7]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, NEFT produced the livestreaming series NEFT After Dark, a Virtual Cocktail Party Series, which raised funds for bartenders who had been severely impacted by the pandemic.[2]

In 2023, NEFT also sponsored a filmmaking competition called the N.E.F.T.I. Competition in collaboration with The International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) and the Berlinale/EFM & Durban Film Mart.[8]

Jeff Mahony currently serves as the brand’s CEO. NEFT is currently available in 22 countries and 17 states.

NEFT’s vodka recipe was formulated at an award-winning Austrian vodka distillery that uses Alpine spring water that has been filtered through the Austrian Alps’ slate and granite surfaces, which adds oxygen and minerals, creating a smoother taste.[1] The recipe uses water, non-GMO ancient rye grains, and a triple copper pot distillation process.[1][9] Nothing else. The rye grains are hand-selected from rye fields in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, and Poland and the vodka’s mash blend is regularly adjusted based on each year’s harvest.

NEFT’s packaging is recyclable, due to being made from tin and aluminum.[1] It is also designed to be portable and shatter-resistant, and to stay cold for six hours.[10]

Sustainability and eco-friendly production methods are part of NEFT’s key tenets as a company.[11] NEFT uses a protected water supply in the Austrian Alps and refrains from aggressively blanching the water at its source. NEFT’s packaging is composed of highly recyclable materials, including elements such as tin and aluminum.[11]

NEFT’s distillery is planning to transition to solely using renewable energy in the future.[11] NEFT also plans to include using recycled condenser water and dry-farmed grains to reduce environmental impact.

NEFT is a “for cause” company that donates funds to charities such as Project Angel Food.[1]
